Known for sophisticated
swimwear with a sense of whimsy, renowned
designer Red Carter lends his contagious
charm, unique design outlook, and years
of industry experience to the wildly popular
brand that bears his name.
Make no mistake; this
is no overnight success story.
Red’s story is one of determination,
hard work and creative vision.
Red’s drive and
ambition have long informed his character,
beginning during his youth in Southern
California. As a competitive athlete,
Red was an accomplished swimmer, diver
and water polo player. When not in the
water, Red further indulged his need to
ham it up by dabbling in the entertainment
industry. Gracing both the big and small
screens, Red showed he was set on stardom
from the start.
Armed with determination
and a wealth of experience in the pool
and the limelight, Red set off to study
at the Otis/Parson School of Art and Design
in Los Angeles. Upon graduation, he got
his feet wet designing junior sportswear
and activewear for Espirit before putting
his creative talent to work at Guess Jeans,
Rampage, Mossimo, Victoria’s Secret,
and Oscar de la Renta. After years of
tutelage from some of the best in the
business, Red was ready to capitalize
on his hard work…his way.
After moving to Miami
in 2003, Red quickly became inspired by
his new surroundings and motivated by
the ever-present energy and bold, Art
Deco style. Noting that buildings rose
and fell as frequently as the tides, and
local artists were as transient as tourists,
Red established his brand in Miami to
reflect and enhance the city’s burgeoning
creative spirit.
Building upon his experience
in the sportswear category, Red launched
his eponymous swimwear brand in 2004.
The Red Carter collection incorporates
fit, form and function, combining subtle
details, bold prints, and advanced technical
constructions oft neglected by swimwear
designers.
